GENERAL MANAGER WEEKLY BIKE RIDE
Come and join us for our morning bike ride and let me show you some out of the way places and experiences Get off the beaten tracks and support the local community on this half day cycling tour hosted by Mark Spencer, our General Manager at Little Hoi An Central Boutique Resort. A peaceful and easy bicycle ride takes you to the nearby countryside to visit some local artisans. Authentic encounters in a preserved environment, hands on activities, a tasty lunch, a short boat ride and support to the local community, this experience has it all.
“Come and let us show you our Hoi An and why we now live here now in this amazing country”
Meet Mark and your local guide at the lobby at 8.30am. After a short briefing on the tour, hop on your bicycle and you are off onto smaller streets to reach the Thu Bon river. Cycling through the fishing village of Thanh Ha, you quickly find yourselves in the middle of rice paddy fields and quaint little hamlets. Learn how to make rice crackers and sample it on your first visit. Then head deeper into the countryside as the friendly locals waive at you on the way. A pit stop at a local café helps you refill before reaching a mat weaving family, a multiple century old tradition in that area. See how the 2 skilled women carefully select the reeds to make a colorful mat on which the locals still prefer to sleep in these rural areas. Sit down and try it for yourself. It is certainly not as easy as it seems and you probably wouldn’t make much of a living out of it! The next visit is quite unusual as you see how to make a cake used on special traditional ceremonies. Your host shows you all the steps and you are welcome to try as well. A tea will be served together with some freshly made delicious cakes. Your guide introduces you about the nearby family temple and you also have time to exchange with Mark. Bid farewell to your host and get back on your bicycle along the rural lanes bordered by bamboo fences and traditional houses. Reach the more touristic island of Cam Kim with a chance to see free range water buffaloes on the way. Another short cycle distance and you find yourself at local restaurant on the banks of the Thu Bon river where a tasty lunch awaits you. This is the perfect location to unwind together with Mark and to share a couple of drinks (hint, beers are his first choice). A short and relaxing boat ride brings you back to Hoi An within 5min cycling to Little Hoi An Central Boutique Hotel about 1.30pm. Perfect time to unwind by our swimming pool area and/or to treat yourself with a relaxing massage at our Spa. (not included)
